RL Remodeling
Our Process

From walk-through to final punch list.

A remodel is one of the bigger checks you’ll write — and one of the longer disruptions to your daily life. Here’s exactly how we work, so there are no surprises along the way.

  1. Phase 01

    Discovery & Design

A free walk-through of the space. We listen to how you actually live, look at the bones of the house, and then put together a design and material direction.

  2. Phase 02

    Fixed-Price Bid

A detailed, line-itemed scope with a firm price. No vague allowances, no “TBD”s, no surprise change-orders six weeks in. You sign once you’re ready.

  3. Phase 03

    Permits & Prep

We handle all permitting with your village and county. Materials are ordered and lead-time is locked before we lift a hammer.

  4. Phase 04

    Master Execution

Our in-house carpenters, tile setters, and finish trades execute the build. A site lead is on premise daily and you get weekly written progress updates.

  5. Phase 05

    Punch List & Walk-Through

Before we call it done, we walk every room together. Every flag goes on the punch list. Nothing gets “close enough.”

  6. Phase 06

    Handover & Warranty

Final cleaning, manuals organized, warranties registered. We back our workmanship after we’re gone — call us if anything moves.

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does a typical remodel take? add

A bathroom usually takes 4–6 weeks, a kitchen 8–12, and a whole-home gut rehab can run 6–12 months. We give a firm timeline once design is locked.

Are estimates free? add

Yes — initial walk-throughs and estimates are free for any project in our western Chicago suburbs service area. Bilingual English and Spanish.

Do you handle permits? add

Yes. We pull and manage all permits with Cook County and the individual village offices we serve — including Berwyn, Cicero, Oak Park, Riverside, Forest Park, La Grange, Brookfield, and surrounding municipalities.

Are you licensed and insured? add

RL Remodeling is fully licensed, bonded, and insured in Illinois. We carry general liability and workers’ comp on every job.

Can I live in the house during the remodel? add

For most kitchen, bathroom, and basement projects, yes — we set up dust containment and protected pathways. For whole-home gut rehabs, most clients move out for the duration.

How do payments work? add

A standard schedule with milestone draws — never paid in full up front. Final payment is held until the punch list is closed.
